Mekong Delta Floating Market – An Unique Cultural Experience 1 Day (Private Tour)

OVERVIEW

Cai Rang floating market is the most famous and biggest floating market in the Mekong Delta. The market is unique culture of local people living along this mighty river. Instead of shopping in the town, they shop and barter on the river that is more convenient to access by waterways.

Cai Rang floating market specializes in selling fruits, farm products and specialties of Can Tho such as grapefruit, durian, dragon fruit, watermelon, pineapple…

There are also some small boats serving soft drink and food. And you should not miss an interesting experience when visiting Cai Rang floating market is that having breakfast on boats with some local dishes, including “pho”, “hu tieu”, “bun rieu”… (series of noodles), “com tam” (broken rice with pork and egg) etc. at very cheap price.

In 2016, Cai Rang Floating Market was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. The market was also elected as  one of the most impressive markets in the world by UK’s Rough Guide. Once you visit Vietnam, Mekong floating market is a kind of things should not miss in your travel plan.

ITINERARY

HO CHI MINH CITY – CAN THO FLOATING MARKET – HO CHI MINH CITY (B/L)

In the morning:

4.00 AM: We’ll pick you up at the hotel for an early floating market trip.

7.30 AM: Arrival in Can Tho and have a breakfast.

Then you first take the boat trip to explore the picturesque tributaries of the Lower Mekong River.

It takes about 40 minutes to get to our first  landscape – Cai Rang floating market. You’ll have a chance to try some fruits…

Go on to reach a noodle and a rice paper factory to discover how locals make rice paper, noodles, and other traditional products in Cai Rang.

Another 15-minute boat ride shall take you to a fruit orchard where we will have 30 minutes of biking around the countryside. This is the very time to leave the main tourist trail and go off-grid to discover local life…

We will enjoy  at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit the Purple House, it’s a café with everything is decorated in purle. You can use the ticket to exchange a free drink over there. That’s a nice place for you to take pictures if you are a “live on the internet” person. Just take your time and relax there.

Make your way to Cai Be via land transfers, with a side trip to Cao Dai Temple in the main province of Tien Giang. This temple is the Cao Dai faith’s Holy See, one of the most popular landmarks in Southern Vietnam.

On the way back, we will go to visiting Kimmy Chocolate Factory, which provides chocolates with different flavors, and you can try them freely.

After that, we head back to Ho Chi Minh City.

7.00 PM: Dropping you off at your place in Sai Gon, we say good bye and hope to see you again in other tours.
